Looking for the Faces of Faith and Work

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work and take care of it.

This verse, Genesis 1:25, points the worth and dignity of work. It, along with other passages of Scripture, can give us guidance as we think through how we integrate faith, work, and economics.

A lot of debate has sprung up around the Department of Health and Human Services’ new policy directives concerning welfare. What do these new directives mean for the nature and dignity of work?

IFWE’s Hugh Whelchel and Anne Bradley share their insights in a new op-ed published over at the Gospel Coalition. It’s called “Why Welfare Should Respect the Dignity of Work.” Read the full article over at TGC’s website.

Hugh and Anne point out that,

The goal in helping people is to set them up for success and put them in a position where they no longer need the welfare – that is the innovation we need.

We want to tell these success stories – people who, while receiving welfare, coupled this aid with their hard work and initiative to rise out of poverty.

We want you to help us share them, too.

Share your stories and those you’ve heard in the comments section. Tweet them at us using the hashtag #facesoffaithandwork.
