Life is Always Worth the Fight

She walked into our clinic nauseous and praying, although she had never before acknowledged God’s presence in her life.

I can’t be pregnant.

I don’t know who the father is.

I’m not ready… it’s not the right time.

Although each woman is unique, all women’s concerns about facing an unexpected pregnancy are similar. No matter her past, needs, mental state, religious affiliation, or ethnicity, if she is considering abortion, we are here for her.

If we are made in the image of God, not protecting life is an affront to God Himself. God never says he made plants in His image, or the ocean in His image, or animals in His image. Yet as a culture, we have an easier time raising funds and awareness for plants and animals, but life, human life, is an inconvenience — it’s disregarded.

All the while, we sit back and wonder why mass shootings are the new norm, euthanasia is accepted, assisted suicide is encouraged, and the older generation is an imposition. The reality is that if we don’t value life in the womb, we won’t value it outside of the womb.

Pastor Tony Evans said, “God views it as a personal insult when life is not given the value He gives to it because what you said is what God did is not worth protecting. Any discussion of life has to start there. Any discussion of life has to start with the divine mark. And the job of government, the Bible says, is to protect that life.”

The reality is that if we don't value life in the womb, we won't value it outside of the womb.

When a woman comes to Hope Women’s Centers, she is served through a linear model. One of our patient advocates walks with her through each step of her pregnancy. She receives free and comprehensive services such as:

  • Pregnancy testing
  • STI testing and treatment
  • Ultrasound examination
  • Options counseling
  • Community resources

During her one-on-one counseling time, we share all her options: adoption, abortion, carrying and parenting. We want her to make an informed choice with all the accurate medical information she needs to do so. Each woman leaves with resources tailored to her needs. By the time she leaves, she has come to know there are women supporting her, cheering for her and, little does she know, praying for her and her unborn child.

We will remain steadfast despite the onslaught of 10,000 abortions per year in Broward.

Just last week, a woman came in seeking an abortion. She left accepting Christ as her savior and choosing to move forward with her pregnancy. Our staff knows that no woman is without hope, no matter how dire her circumstances may be because we always start our day with a prayer to the God of all hope (Romans 15:13).

Our fight for life in Broward is great. We have one Hope Women’s Center, outnumbered by eight abortion clinics. But we choose to stand in the gap and fight against the lie that a baby is a burden and not a blessing, that a pregnancy is a problem and not a praise, and that she is inadequate when she is invaluable.

We will remain steadfast despite the onslaught of 10,000 abortions per year in Broward — a beacon of hope offering truth and Christ-like care. We praise God because He still allows us to help nearly 1,000 abortion-minded women choose life each year!

Our battle is great, but our God is bigger! Life is always worth the fight.
